Not Leaving Sober To Kickoff Eagles Home Opener Party

Published on 10 September 2022 at 10:59

Excitement will be pouring through the doors at Xfinity Live! on Monday September 19th as Philadelphia Eagles fans stop in for a pregame tailgate party. The Eagles have their home opener that night, but before the foot hits the ball, country music will be entertaining the South Philly Sports and Entertainment District.

The tailgate party will be headlined by country music star, Jordan Davis. Supporting Davis will be the New Jersey Band, Not Leaving Sober. The name will surely foreshadow how many Eagles fans will be at the end of the night.  Xfinity Live! does indicate this event if 21 and over, so if your group does have anyone underage, please keep this in mind with the venue.

Although Not Leaving Sober is from the Jersey Shore (Asbury Park), they bring plenty of Nashville with their sound, story telling, and talent to play music that leads to a good time from all in attendance. Their Spotify isn’t filled yet with numerous albums, the 5-piece country rock band is no stranger to playing for large crowds. Looking at the band’s bio, they have already performed alongside multiple top selling country artists, including Zack Brown, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Chris Lane, and others. They have also performed for multiple radio shows, showcases, and/or festivals, including Wildwood’s Barefoot Country Music Fest.

Hopping onto Spotify, the band has been releasing music for the last two years. The latest single by the band is ‘Y’all don’t know.’ Right away, the band is showing that southern side of their music using y’all, a word everyone knows but only so few use up in the northern Philadelphia/New Jersey area. However the first sound you hear isn’t southern twang, or rock country guitar, but the Jersey Shore familiar sound of a seagull;  setting up the theme of the record. If you listen to the record just for the music, you’ll instantly be taken to many of the party songs found on county music radio stations across the nation. But unlike the party songs so many artists put out about growing up in the south, locals in the New Jersey and surrounding areas will have no trouble relating to this summer party. Lyrics filled with popular references that have filled so many of our summers; boardwalks, tram cars, “singing bye bye to them Bennys,” speeding faster than the posted 65 mph signs, Wawa parking lots, filling up the gas tank without ever getting out of the car, and many others. If this song doesn’t resonate with you on your drive to the shore with the windows down, you might as well turn around and head back home.

Slowing things down just a little from ‘Y’all don’t know,’ is another enjoyable song named ‘So Darling.’ ‘So Darling’ is more of a traditional country ballad pick up song. It contains all the sounds of the full piece band but at a slower, more deliberate pace vocally. The type of song you would play to a girl you wanted to take out for a drink, making sure every word you say is meant to be heard.

Showing a completely different sound to their art, ‘Piss Out Fall Down Drunk’ starts off with acoustic chords before shifting to a group sing along reminiscent of an Irish Drinking song. The perfect song to perform when playing a bar and giving a change of pace to the set list. We’ve all been to the bar when a song is played and everyone stops to join in, making the moment much more enjoyable. This is certainly one of those songs that sounds great on your speakers, but I imagine it sounds amazing when the whole crowd is singing along with a beer in hand.

Bottom line, Not Leaving Sober may still be in the early stages of record releases, but their sound and style is one where the trajectory of their career is only going up. If you are pre-gaming for the Eagles game, or staying at Xfinity Live! To watch the game, be sure to head over early enough to catch Not Leaving Sober before Jordan Davis hits the stage. If you can’t make it to Xfinity Live!, there is still no reason to miss out on seeing this group. Being local to the area, they appear to have plenty of upcoming shows either at the Jersey Shore or in Philly, or somewhere in between. Grab your friends, grab an ice cold beer, and have a great time listening to your new local favorite country band.

Xfinity Live! has a 2:30 pm doors opening time. DJ Slice also listed as entertainment for the event.
